There's a 20th-anniversary edition of Taking Back Sunday's Louder Now on the way
"To know this album has made an impact on so many other people’s lives as well as mine is something I still struggle to get my head around," says Adam Lazzara
Good news for Weezer fans! Not only is there a new single, C.E.O., but the band have got dates lined up in the UK, Europe and Japan next year.
Weezer have shared a new single, C.E.O, and unveiled new tour dates in the UK, Europe and Japan.
Their new song finds Rivers Cuomo giving his take on surviving amid the competing pressures of keeping a career going and meeting the expectations of fans who only care about a band’s classic songs. ‘Cranking out another Nineties jam/Wish I could do something new/But nobody wants to hear that,’ he sings.
Meanwhile, its quirky music video features a plethora of guests, including Tony Hawk and Friends’ star Giovanni Ribisi (who played Phoebe’s oddball brother Frank).
“Many thanks to our distinguished associates for their appearances in the accompanying visual presentation. Each has been awarded the Gold Star of Excellence for exemplary performance,” the band write on Instagram.
“Pat yourselves on the back for helping to raise the gold standard.”
Check it out below:
C.E.O. appears on the band’s forthcoming self-titled album (another one, which will presumably be known as The Gold Album), which arrives on August 21 via Reprise/Warner Records. It follows up their single We Might As Well Be Strangers.
Meanwhile, Weezer have also announced a run of tour dates for 2027, taking in UK, Europe and Japan.
They’ll play a handful of Japan shows in February with dates in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Nagoya. The UK and Europe shows will unfold in May, starting in Dublin, with stops in Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Cardiff before they continue into mainland Europe. The run finishes in Helsinki on June 1.
To make it even more exciting, Taking Back Sunday are joining them on their UK and European dates.
UK fans who pre-order the new album can access pre-sale on Tuesday, August 11 at 10am BST. The general sale kicks off at the same time on August 14.
