Listen to Weezer’s uplifting new single, Shine Again
Shine Again is here! And Weezer have confirmed that it’s taken from “a new album produced by Kenny Beats and Klas Åhlund”.
After the Blue, Green, Red, White, Teal, and Black albums, Weezer's new self-titled - presumably nicknamed the Gold Album - will arrive in August and they've also released the single We Might As Well Be Strangers.
Weezer have announced a new album - another self-titled - and shared a single, We Might As Well Be Strangers, featuring Wednesday.
Weezer’s 20th album - which will probably be nicknamed the Gold Album thanks to its snazzy gold artwork - is due for release on August 21 via Reprise/Warner Records.
The album took root after the band’s 30th anniversary tour when they reconvened in Orange County, California and got together in a rehearsal space to work out their next chapter. It’s also the first occasion where vocalist/guitarist Rivers Cuomo and drummer Pat Wilson had written the basics of a song together since their debut.
Produced by Kenny Beats and Klas Ahlund, the album - per a press release - features “tonngue-in-cheek meta songs about aging as a band, weighing your legacy, still carrying on, with other songs celebrating where they are now: as one of the most influential artists in the world for anyone, any age, picking up a guitar, a bass, or a pair of drumsticks.”
They’ve also teamed up with Wednesday’s Karly Hartzman for new single We Might As Well Be Strangers - listen below.
Their previously released single Shine Again also features on the tracklist, which is as follows:
