That’s a second announcement this week! Find out who else has joined the line-up for next year’s black metal fest Fortress.
Only a few days ago Fortress revealed more bands for next year’s festival, and today (Sunday, July 7) an additional four have been rolled out.
The Scarborough Spa black metal bash – which takes place from May 31 – June 1, 2025 – will now also be hosting exclusive UK sets by Spirit Possession and The Great Old Ones, and UK debuts from Belore and Perchta. They join the already-announced Agalloch, Ulcerate, Forteresse and RUÏM.
Previously, festival boss Gary Stephenson promised that the Fortress team “have already been working on this line-up for many months and we are confident that the 2025 edition of Fortress will be mind-bendingly good for you all. We will try not to make you wait long until we release more band announcements. A new stronghold has arisen!”

In our 2024 review of Fortress, we wrote of the event, “Deep in the blacked-out halls of the Scarborough Spa – with waves crashing relentlessly into the sea wall outside its front door – the organisers of Fortress Festival have assembled a line-up the envy of aficionados around the world. And fans have responded in droves, selling-out the 1,750-capacity complex well in advance, with many crossing borders or flying thousands of miles so as not to miss the landmark gathering.”
