Green Day celebrate 39/Smooth anniversary with never-before-seen video from 1990
Watch Green Day (with original drummer John Kiffmeyer) perform Paper Lanterns in 1990 at a “backyard in Oakland”.
Wait… what?!
Green Day drummer Tré Cool has revealed that the band met up for a practice… and had a run-through of legendary 1994 record Dookie.
"Fun band practice – swipe to see the set list we played today," the sticksman teased on Instagram, along with a selfie with Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, and Dookie's tracklist… holy shit.
What does this mean?! The punk titans have of course played the full-length in full several times before – most notably when headlining Reading & Leeds in 2013 – but with no upcoming shows scheduled, does this mean they've just been playing the album in its entirety for the hell of it? Or have they got something up their sleeves in the future?
Either way, we wish we were a fly on the wall for that band practice… Damn.
Let's re-watch that Reading set and have a lovely time:
