At their show in Quebec City on July 16, Green Day performed the track 1981 live for the first time ever – watch fan-shot footage now!
It’s been well over a year now since Green Day first seemingly started teasing new music… and on Sunday night, they finally debuted a brand-new song live!
At their festival set on July 16 at Quebec City’s Plaines d’Abraham, the punk rock legends surprised fans by dropping a never-before-heard track called 1981 into their 24-song setlist.
Of course, previous teasers had referred to something related to 1972 (which is also the year that all three members of the band were born), whereas fan-shot footage captures Billie Joe Armstrong singing the catchy chorus, ‘She’s gonna bang her head like 1981’ in this song.
So we’ve got no idea what the two different years could mean, but hey, there’s a new Green Day song in the world and that’s a very good thing.
