See Green Day perform Dilemma at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special
Having recently wrapped up the North American leg of The Saviors Tour, have Green Day put their feet up just yet? Clearly not…
Green Day will be “throwing a rager of a holiday party” later this week with the release of their new single Dilemma…
Green Day have announced a brand-new single, Dilemma.
Following the release of The American Dream Is Killing Me and Look Ma, No Brains! – from their upcoming 14th album Saviors – the punk rock trio will be treating fans to another new song before the year is out. “Throwing a rager of a holiday party,” they say. “Dilemma is out everywhere on Thursday, come by then to check it out.”
If that’s not enough for you, Green Day are the cover stars of our current winter issue, where they dive into all things Saviors and much, much more.
Reflecting on their mindset going into the album, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong explains how it comes from a similar place as 2004’s legendary American Idiot, in the sense that it followed two albums – 1997’s Nimrod and 2000’s Warning – where they were experimenting.
“When I think about American Idiot, I think of where Nimrod and Warning were these records where we were in the studio learning, and trying to further our musical knowledge,” says Billie. “That’s sort of the way that I feel right now, too, because [2020 album] Father Of All… was one of those moments where we were like, ‘Let’s try something new.’ We learned so much from it, and it’s like it has a baby called Saviors!”
“I can hear bits of each album on this record, even though it sounds fresh and new,” agrees bassist Mike Dirnt. “I feel like if there’s any words that always come back to Green Day, it’s energy and melody – and this record has all those things in abundance.”
Saviors is due out on January 19, 2024 via Reprise/Warner Records.
