The band continues to add to their The Stage album with new versions of golden oldies.
The Rolling Stones’ 1966 song As Tears Go By is the latest blast from the past to get the Avenged Sevenfold treatment, as part of the Californian band’s on-going expansion of their 2016 LP, The Stage.
Previous covers have included The Beach Boys’ God Only Knows and Del Shannon’s Runaway. A7X have also produced a new track of their own as part of the series, Dose.
Says frontman M. Shadows of their Rolling Stones selection:
“This song always stood out because of the melody and fragile state of Mick Jagger’s vocal and the interesting string section in the bridge. We took a more up-tempo, rock and roll approach and added the sitar as a little nod to the experimentation of the ‘60s.”

And check out The Stage, too, if it passed you by on release last October.
