Despite being one of the biggest popstars on the planet, Miley Cyrus is also no stranger to the world of rock and metal, having made a jaw-dropping appearance at the 2019 Chris Cornell tribute show, I Am The Highway, and then covered Metallica at Glastonbury later that year.

Now, it sounds as though Miley's love for the heavier side of music will continue in 2020, as the singer has revealed that her new record – She Is Miley Cyrus – will be influenced by a wide range of artists, including The Four Horsemen.

“I think the first single comes with a lot of pressure because it does kind of show everyone where you're going,” she tells French radio station NRJ. “But again, in my sets, I cover Britney Spears to Metallica, so my record will be reflective of who I am, which is just kind of all different pieces of inspiration and influence.”

Given that the popstar's performance at I Am The Highway was even approved by Lars Ulrich, this all sounds like it could be very interesting indeed…

Last month, Miley also stated on The Zach Sang Show that she had pretty much made a rock LP.

“I actually used making this record as a threat to my team at one point,” she explained. “Like, after the last record, I was like, ‘Listen, I’m gonna try pop one more time and if I feel like I just can’t sleep at night with it, I’m gonna make a rock record.’ And they were like, ‘Well, then why are you waiting, you never wait, just do it,’ and so I was like, ‘You’re right. I don’t know, I don’t know why I’m, like, threatening you with a record that feels like the right next step to me.’

“I just thought again, you know, I should just kind of keep going with pop and go with what I know, but that’s not who I am, so again, I just went and started making a rock record.”
