Jonathan Davis: "I Would Love To Write A Musical!"

Kerrang! interviews can throw up some brilliantly startling revelations. And in this week's wonderfully sweary chat with Korn icon Jonathan Davis, we've been gifted with a whole bunch of them.

Ahead of the release of his debut solo album, Black Labyrinth, the nu-metal legend reflects on pretty much everything, from Korn's early days to the magnificent legacy he'll one day leave behind, with plenty of fascinating tangents in-between.

After quizzing Jonathan about the profound effect the musical Jesus Christ Superstar had on him (resulting in a surprising turn of events when he was just three years old), he goes on to profess his love for the theatre.

“I would love to write a musical!” he enthuses. “A long time ago, I was talking to [English writer, director and artist] Clive Barker about doing a dark, fucked-up musical, but people get busy and it didn’t happen. It’s definitely on my bucket list to do a really dark, metal musical – not some stupid-ass one.”

Given Jonathan's knack in the 'dark metal' department, there is pretty much there's nothing we'd like to see or hear more. Get your hands on our sprawling, five-page interview with Mr. Davis right here.

Black Labyrinth is out on May 25 via Sumerian Records – pre-order it at this link.
