It’s no secret that there’s no bad blood whatsoever between blink-182 and their former frontman Matt Skiba – and in fact the Alkaline Trio legend has confirmed in a new interview that he still frequently keeps up with his old bandmates.

Speaking on Ted Stryker’s Tuna On Toast podcast, Matt says that he’s still “great friends” with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, and is “so grateful” for his time with the beloved pop-punks. Not only that, but he’s also a big fan of blink’s most recent album, ONE MORE TIME… (which of course features returning frontman Tom DeLonge).

“I talked to Travis last week,” reveals Matt, during what Ted tweeted was a “very sweet/gracious moment”. “Listening to the new blink record I was like, ‘Dude, you played a fucking double-kick, what the hell!’ It’s killer, I love the new blink record.”

Matt then goes on to add that his iteration of blink-182 simply “ran its course”, and he had always expected Tom to return one day. “I remember at the time I said to Mark, ‘Well, eventually Tom’s going to come back, right?’… I think somewhere he had to know that that was true.

“So for me I feel like the timing was perfect. I think everyone’s glad that Tom’s back, but I’m really thankful for those guys and I’m proud of the work that we did.”

Hell yeah! For more from Matt, Alkaline Trio will be releasing their 10th album Blood, Hair And Eyeballs on January 26 via Rise Records.
