Mike Shinoda: "This Album Is Bigger Than Me…"

In the new issue of Kerrang!, we catch up with the wonderful Mike Shinoda to get the lowdown on his forthcoming Post Traumatic solo album.

As well as finding out how the Linkin Park man created the record in his home studio and the challenges (and benefits) that came with that, Mike also reflects on performing as a solo artist without the "crutch" of a band, Post Traumatic's amazing guest collaborations, and the impact of his new music the LP family.

“I feel like it’s doing something positive for the fans,” Mike says. “And that’s even more important, because I want it to be bigger than myself and my story.”

He also says of the DIY approach of Post Traumatic: “I knew that life was going to be really hard, tumultuous, and interesting. I tasked myself with capturing as many of those moments, and being as authentic and truthful about it as I could. I figured that if I said something on a song, or had written a lyric that was revealing or too personal, I could always go back, change it or throw it away.”

We're not gonna give you anymore than that, so you'll have to pick up the magazine – which also comes with three amazing double-page posters of Mike – in the issue, out on May 30.

The magazine looks like this:

Pre-order Post Traumatic (out on June 15 via Warner Bros. Records) right here.
