Ozzy Osbourne: I Do Think About Death, But I Don't Worry About It

Ozzy Osbourne isn't as scared about death now as he was when he was younger

Ozzy Osbourne: I Do Think About Death, But I Don't Worry About It

In an exclusive interview with Kerrang! – the first since Ozzy's Parkinson's diagnosis – the Prince Of Darkness himself has opened up about his thoughts on life and death.

Kerrang! travelled to Ozzy Osbourne's house in Los Angeles for an audience with the man himself, during which we spoke about everything from his health issues to his upcoming album to the power of music.

But since Ozzy's fall last year – which forced him to postpone his world tour – and subsequent Parkinson's diagnosis, his health and wellbeing has been at the forefront of everyone's mind – including his own.

“Do I ever think about when my time’s gonna come?” he ponders. “I think about it; I don’t worry about it. I won’t be here in another 15 years or whatever, not that much longer, but I don’t dwell on it. It’s gonna happen to us all.

“Am I happy now? No. I haven’t got my health,” he continues. “That thing knocked the shit out of me, man, but I’m still here. In fact, I worried about [death] more when I was younger than I do now. I just try to enjoy things as much as possible, even though that’s so fucking hard sometimes.”

Last year, Ozzy was forced to postpone his No More Tours II world tour after he was hospitalised with pneumonia and while recovering at home, he fell and dislodged the metal rods he had inserted following his 2003 quad-bike accident. This, in turn, caused serious injuries to his back, neck and shoulders.

But, 12 months later, he is now preparing to release his twelfth studio album Ordinary Man.

“If you saw me at the beginning of last year you’d think I was fucked,” he admits. “But I honestly think making this album is the best medicine I could have had. I was doing something, something I like to do. I wish I could do more, but it just felt great.”

Ozzy will release Ordinary Man on February 21.

His previously postponed No More Tours II world tour is scheduled to start in May. Get your UK tickets here.
