New York post-hardcore foursome Quicksand – the band fronted by Walter Schreifels after Gorilla Biscuits but before Rival Schools (and all the rest of it) – are to put out their third studio album later this year, following their (second) reformation back in 2012.

June 2012 saw the original Quicksand quartet of Schreifels, Sergio Vega (these days also of Deftones), Alan Cage and Tom Capone play together for the first time in 13 years, for Revelation Records’ 25th anniversary. (Revelation put out Quicksand’s debut eponymous EP in 1990, as well as Gorilla Biscuits’ influential Start Today LP of a year earlier.) Further shows followed, as did the question of new material. But that was a question left unanswered, until now.

Interiors will come out through Epitaph Records, and is set to drop this year, although a specific release date remains to be confirmed. Quicksand broke the news of the album via short video posts on Instagram and Facebook.

Listen to Quicksand’s acclaimed second album, 1995’s Manic Compression, below.

UPDATE! 6pm!

The album is called Interior and will be released on November 10th on the might Epitaph Records.

Recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Interiors was produced and engineered by Will Yip (The Menzingers, Title Fight, Pianos Become the Teeth). While the album finds Quicksand embracing the cathartic, guitar-driven dynamic of their earlier work, Interiors also takes on a wider spectrum of sound.
“It was all just about being ourselves and who we were as well as who we are,” says Schreifels of the making of Interiors. “We did it for us completely.”
