Surprise! Following last year's brilliant fourth album Flux, Poppy has just shared her first new music of 2022.
Entitled 3.14, her new track was first unveiled on the metaverse app PoppySphere, before it then hit YouTube on January 11. According to the lyrics and Genius, it's about Poppy's Sphynx cat Pi, with the musician teasing it back in December: "I’ve been holding on to this song I wrote abt Pi for ages," she tweeted. "Should I drop?"
Well, it's here now and it's pretty damn great. Listen below:
If you want to know more about Pi after that, you can follow the cat on Insta over at thenakedpi:
In our Kerrang! Cover Story with Poppy last year to tie in with the release of Flux, the singer shared that she'd been working on new music since writing her latest LP, with everything being created to keep her own artistic desires satisfied, first and foremost.
"I need to push myself to be honest constantly," she explained. "When I’m looking to do with whatever is in front of me, that hour or that day, is to entertain myself and in turn that could resonate with somebody else. But I think when people start thinking solely about what fans want to hear, that's when you self-destruct.
"You have to do you and offer your voice… and if you do that, the right people will come."
