Ghostemane and HEALTH Collaborate on New Video For Judgement Night

Hardcore trap metal meets industrial noise rock in Ghostmane and HEALTH’s bizarre video game-themed video that must be seen.

More and more, we’re seeing hip-hop and extreme rock collide in interesting ways. But rather than dumbing down the individual aspects of each genre the way certain rap-metal artists did during the late 90s, these meetings of the mind are often born of finding common ground and lifting each others’ cultural niches up.

Case in point: industrial noise-rockers HEALTH and trap metal / hip-hop star Ghostemane have collaborated on a music video for a new single, titled Judgement Night.

Because both of these artists are known for pushing boundaries, it’s unsurprising that the Judgment Night video is pretty insane. HEALTH — featured in our Underground Sounds of America series — are known for heavy beats and scary sounds; while Ghostemane — a hip-hop artist that any metalhead needs to know — is just as terrifying. That said, none of us expected these two contemporary artists to go so weirdly old-school with this 8‑bit mindfuck, which calls back classic games like Doom, King’s Quest, and Splatterhouse.

This marks HEALTH’s fifth collaborative track since September, following singles released with JPEGMAFIA, Youth Code, Perturbator, and Soccer Mommy/Corin Roddick of Purity Ring. Their new album, VOL. 4 :: SLAVES OF FEAR, produced by longtime collaborator Lars Stalfors (Lil Peep, St. Vincent, Bob Moses), was released in February via Loma Vista Recordings and is now available for streaming and purchase.

While Ghostemane gears up for an Australian tour that kicks off in May (followed by an extensive North American run with H09909), HEALTH is currently touring North America with Youth Code.
