Tobias Forge Could Imagine "Getting Someone Else To Sing" For Ghost

The one most consistent and recognizable piece of Swedish metal stars Ghost is frontman Tobias Forge. Though he's spent his entire tenure in the band using make-up, costumes, prosthetic appliances and stage names to mask his identity, Forge's voice and stage presence are unmistakable in Ghost's music and live show. However, in a recent interview, Tobias admitted that he'd consider stepping down from vocal duties in the band and focusing entirely on guitar.

Speaking to Chicago radio station 101 WKQX, Tobias said, "I’m conditioned into being the singer guy, but if I had my way and definitely in an alternative future, if whatever happens, I could definitely picture myself sort of getting someone else to sing and I just play guitar.

“I love playing those songs myself. Obviously, I don't do it very often and if I'm just given a guitar, I have to refresh my memory and the more time I spend jumping around doing other things, the less I play guitar.

“Every time I come home, I play a little bit more, and then I go on the road and I play a little bit less. Then as soon as I go in the studio again, I have to really get my chops up again.”

Who Tobias would have replace him remains a mystery, but it would be interesting to see who he would consider worthy of filling his shoes. Given that Ghost's vocals are so much a part of the band's identity, he could either go with someone who sounds exactly like him, or break the mold entirely and hire someone very different.

Ghost will be embarking on a North American tour this fall, so see if Tobias has any guest vocalists in store at one of the following dates:
