Sepultura brought out Dave Grohl as a special guest during their final show to give an extra percussive kick to their 1993 song Kaiowas.

Midway through their set at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, the Foo Fighters vocalist-guitarist joined the band - to much delight from the crowd - with a drum for the instrumental from 1993’s Chaos A.D.

Dave’s spoken in the past about his love of Sepultura, even giving James Corden a brief crash course on the band on the Late Late Show back in 2016.

“One of my favourite heavy metal bands of all time is from Brazil. This band called Sepultura. They’re amazing, but one of the crazy things they did, they made this album called Roots.

“But they incorporated crazy Brazilian instrumentation into the heaviest music you’ve ever heard in your life. It kind of changed the game. It was the heaviest thing ever.”

Fellow Nirvana member Krist Novoselic was also a fan and the pair once floated the idea of Sepultura opening for them, but it never materialised.

Sepultura confirmed the details of their final show last week, which will take place on November 7, 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil. They’ll be joined by plenty of special guests there too, including past members of the band (but not Max and Iggor Cavalera, who turned down Andreas Kisser’s invitation).

Metal Allegiance - the supergroup featuring Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, Testament’s Chuck Billy and Alex Skolnik, Mastodon’s Troy Sanders – are supporting, alongside Sacred Reich and fellow Brazilians Krisiun.

Meanwhile, UK fans can catch them one last time when they play Bloodstock on August 7.
