Here Are The English Lyrics To The New Rammstein Song Deutschland

Don't speak German? Here's the English translation of Rammstein's new song Deutschland

Here Are The English Lyrics To The New Rammstein Song Deutschland

Yesterday, the internet was set ablaze (as you'd expect) by the release of Rammstein's new video for Deutschland. It's the first track taken from their upcoming self-titled album, due for release in May, and has already racked up 5.2million views on YouTube at the time of writing.

We unpacked the video to try and get our heads around just what the hell is going on, and to be honest, we're still none the wiser. In the nine minute runtime, we're introduced to many characters and scenarios, ranging from astronauts to Medieval knights to underground fight clubs – it's quite the journey. Maybe the lyrics will give us a clue to what the song Deutschland is actually about.

Of course, being ignorant English idiots, our knowledge of German is pretty much only what we can remember from our GCSEs. We know Deutschland means Germany, that's easy, but because we're big thickos who should've paid more attention, we can't understand all of Rammstein's lyrics. Enter Redditor QankHD.

Posting on Reddit shortly after the new song was released, QankHD translated the lyrics to Deutschland into English (we have tweaked it slightly after reader Annika Hausen posted some suggestions). Some words don't accurately translate one hundred per cent, but this is pretty much an exact translation of what Till Lindemann is singing while setting fire to things and causing chaos throughout various historical scenes. It's pretty heavy.

You have cried a lot
In the mind apart
In the heart united
We have been together for a very long time
Your breath is cold
The heart in flames
You
I
Us
You (plural)

Germany
My heart in flames
Want to love you, want to damn you
Germany
Your breath is cold
So young
And yet so old
Germany

I
I never want to leave you
One can love you
And want to hate you
Overbearing
Superior
To take over
To surrender
Surprising
To assault
Germany, Germany over everyone

Germany
My heart in flames
Want to love you, want to damn you

Germany
Your breath is cold
So young
And yet so old
Germany

Germany
Your love is a curse and a blessing
Germany
My love I cannot give to you
Germany

Germany
You
I
Us
You (plural)

Superior
Needless
Übermenschen
Weary
The higher you climb, the farther you fall
Germany, Germany over everyone

Germany
My heart in flames
Want to love you, want to damn you

Germany
Your breath is cold
So young
And yet so old

Germany
Your love is a curse and a blessing
Germany
My love I cannot give to you
Germany
