At long last Avril Lavigne's awesome new album Love Sux is finally here – which means that so too is her collaboration with blink-182's Mark Hoppus.

Of course, Avril worked extensively with Mark's bandmate Travis Barker on the record, and also released it via the drummer's DTA label, but the pop-punk princess also recruited Mark for bass and guest vocals on the infectious All I Wanted (other album guests are Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear).

Last month, she told Mark in an interview for his After School radio show: "I was really excited to work with you. I mean, to be honest, you're one of my favourite artists. [1997 and 1999 blink albums] Dude Ranch and Enema Of The State… those were the records I was listening to in high school and as a teenager and I feel like they were really impactful on me as I was coming into my own musical identity.

"So when I had the opportunity to work with you, which was over Zoom, which was different," she added. "I mean, I was so excited and I was really impressed with how efficient you are in the studio. You write, you record yourself, you can engineer, you sing, you're playing, and so having you on the album is a huge honour for me. So I'm really excited about our collaboration."

Speaking to Vogue about the album's different collaborators, Avril recently shared that, "They brought their own flavour and skill. Having new people to work with is really inspiring. Machine Gun Kelly is a fantastic writer and he played guitar; Mark [Hoppus] played bass on his song; Travis plays drums on some of the songs. It really sounds sonically different with their chops on it, instead of just hiring a studio session player. I’ll work with producers and they’ll hire a guitar player, and I always have to sit with them and go through each track and make notes. But when John Feldmann played guitar, I was like, 'You’re my favourite guitar player!' Everyone understood me and what I was going for."

Read the lyrics to All I Wanted (via Genius):

I was always crushing on the wrong boys
I was always yelling when I should've been sitting down
Memories of cigarettes and polaroids
Kiss you in the kitchen of a house that burned down
I remember waiting on the sunrise
And I'll be ready, waiting 'til you come back around
Come back around, come back around

All I wanted was you, let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose, I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you, from the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose (Let's go)

Woah, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh
All that I wanted was you

I would always fuck around and find out
You were always saying I would crash down someday
I would have to pass out on my friend's couch
We were up all night, so we slept all day
I remember waiting on the sunrise
And I'll be right here waiting 'til you come back around
Come back around, come back around

All I wanted was you, let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose, I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you, from the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose

And maybe it was for the best, you used to call me useless
We're floating to the nothingness 'cause, after all, the truth is
The only things we leave behind are noise and absolution
I act like everything is fine, but I'm plotting revolution

All I wanted was you, let's do whatever it takes
Me and you, we can't lose, I'll take you away from here
From the city that never loved you, from the town I always hated
Me and you, we can't lose

Woah, oh, oh (I'm with you)
Woah, oh, oh (Win or lose)
Woah, oh, oh
All that I wanted was you
