SHVPES: "After Much Introspection, We Have Decided To Call It A Day…"

After five years and two studio albums, Birmingham metalcore mob SHVPES have announced that they're calling it a day.

The band originally formed under the name Cytota back in 2009, but have gone by the SHVPES moniker for the past five years. They cite both creative and other differences as the reason for the split, writing in a joint statement that the members of the group have "found ourselves beginning to move in separate directions, musically and otherwise".

"Good things all come to an end," reads the full message. "After much introspection, we have decided to call it a day with SHVPES.

"As this band has evolved, we have grown a lot as musicians and as people. And as a result we have found ourselves beginning to move in separate directions, musically and otherwise. To continue on as SHVPES would only place further strain on our mental health and personal relationships, as well as be dishonest and a disservice to all of you.

"We leave on good terms, proud and grateful for everything we've achieved.

"To the fans and everyone who has supported, invested and believed in us, we wholeheartedly thank you. You have allowed us to accomplish things we only ever dreamed of and be a part of something bigger than ourselves. For now though, it’s time for a new chapter."

Frontman Griffin Dickinson also took to Twitter to let people know that he's "not done with music", and will be unveiling his next steps in the future.

"I’d like to thank everyone who shared this with us," he says. "I’m forever grateful to everyone who supported SHVPES. Unfortunately sticking around was no longer an option. I’m not done with music & I’ll be back with the arsenal of songs I’ve got written soon enough. Big love."
