Swedish metallers Sabaton will return to close out German metal extravaganza Wacken this summer.
From AC/DC to Megadeth, WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer looks back on a life of heavy metal and hard rock action…
Stephanie Vaquer is a metalhead. Take one look at La Primera on Monday Night Raw with her jet-black hair, goat-horn headdress and blood-red entrance, and it’s clear that she worships at the altar of all things heavy. But what music really gets the Chilean superstar’s adrenaline pumping and ready to hit the ring? Ahead of her World Championship defence against Liv Morgan at WrestleMania this weekend, we decided to find out…
“I don’t remember exactly when, I was around 11 or 12 years old, the first song I remember hearing was Back In Black. The first metal songs I listened to were by System Of A Down, which was my group of friends’ favourite band. It brings back beautiful memories of my transition from childhood to adolescence.”
“It’s one of my father’s favourite songs. We used to travel a lot and have adventures, and this song reminds me of long car trips with my family.”
“Something that makes you move your body. Maybe Cum On Feel The Noize, because the chorus is really catchy!”
“Iron Maiden’s message is so powerful and [it makes me think], ‘Maybe I’m living my own golden years!’”
“When I hear my own entrance theme, I just get goosebumps and then I know I’m ready to fight!”
“Motörhead is one of my favourite bands and Triple H is one of my favourite wrestlers. Hearing Mr. Lemmy in WWE always gets me excited!”
“There isn’t really a song that makes me cry, but I think one that can make me feel emotional is My Immortal. Or Fade To Black by Metallica.”
“This song feels like it truly represents me; it captures so many emotions in a way that hits deeply. The way Imagine Dragons are able to put all of that into one song is incredible.”
“It is just a wonderful song for a funeral, as well as a message of affection and love to my loved ones.”
WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18-19 in Las Vegas. Netflix UK and Ireland subscribers can watch Raw, SmackDown, NXT and all WWE Premium Live events as part of their subscription, including WrestleMania.
