Exclusive: Teenage Bottlerocket Have Written The Punk Dad Anthem

The new video by Wyoming punkers Teenage Bottlerocket will get both tattooed dads and their kids all choked up.

If you asked your average punk, the emotion most often inspired by Teenage Bottlerocket isn’t usually boundless love. The Laramie-based quartet, who ranked as Wyoming’s best punk band on our United States Of Punk map, inspire more snickers and drunken whoops with tracks like Bigger Than Kiss and Robocop Is A Halfbreed Sellout than hard-blinking smiles. But as any working musician will tell you, priorities change the older you get, and jokes about Burger King give way to the touching real-life madness of raising a family.

Which is what makes Teenage Bottlerocket’s new video for Everything To Me, a track from the band’s upcoming album Stay Rad, so damn powerful. The song is an official tribute to the band members’ kids, and features the guys in Bottlerocket doing everything from serenading their babies to teaching their sons how to tie fly-fishing lures. If that weren’t enough, guitarist-vocalist Ray Carlisle’s son is featured in the video, playing along to Everything To Me with the band.

And thankfully, in the true spirit of punk rock, the guest performance wasn’t even that hard to orchestrate. According to Ray, One cool thing about having a song with three chords is that I didn’t have any trouble teaching my 12-year-old kid how to play it a couple minutes before we started shooting.”

Get all misty-eyed over the video for Everything To Me below:

Aw, geez. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
