Witchsorrow have announced their first album in eight years, The Devil And All His Works, and dropped its lead single Bacchus.

The Hampshire doom metallers have signed to Church Road Records for the follow-up to 2018's Hexenhammer, which will land on July 3.

It's their last recorded music featuring drummer David 'Wilbrahammer' Wilbraham, who played his final show with the band in July. They have since welcomed Scott 'Doom' Taylor into the fold.

“I wanted everything to be as pure as possible,” says vocalist and guitarist Necroskull of the band's fifth album. “Everything had to be total doom, to an even higher degree than before. I’m still as proud to call ourselves a doom metal band as I ever was. I don’t know anything else.”

Referencing an occult book by legendary author Dennis Wheatley, the album's title and lyrics nods to the idea that the Devil lurks everywhere and life is about knowing when to engage with him and when to resist his temptations.

“I noticed when I was writing the lyrics that there was something of him there in everything I was coming up with as a metaphor for things both good and bad” continued Necroskull. “I’ve previously written cautionary tales about people getting into Faustian pacts without realising what they’re dealing with, but here there was a different balance.

Turning to the new single, he said: “Bacchus is about the joy of decadence and sin, but there’s also things that touch on impermanence and loss and feeling like there’s a dark force at the edge of reality out to hide misfortune for you to trip on.”
